After studying oboe and piano at the Royal Academy of Music Paul built up a career as a freelance musician. Both as a classical oboist and piano/keyboard player he went on to take part in many tours backing artists including Shirley Bassey, Jack Jones, Helen Shapiro, Gloria Gaynor and Michael Ball to name just a few.

From the 1990s work moved more to the West End of London playing in many shows. Phantom, Cats, Miss Saigon, Hairspray, Blood Brothers and many more.

Other work consists of rehearsal and audition piano and working with singers in Musical Theatre colleges: Arts Educational, Laines, LSMT and his old college, the Royal Academy. Also works extensively as a Musical Director.
